STORM SEASON APPROACHES
As lightning, thunder and high winds drift in, electricity to homes and businesses is certain to be interrupted from time to time. Power issues and storm damage can interfere with your Internet connection and when this happens a few tips from Midwest Connections Technicians could help to have you back online as soon as possible.

Check out the following expert tips:

  1. Always plug electronic devices such as computers, routers, modems and radios into a surge protector or a surge suppressor when possible.
  2. If your power is interrupted and you cannot connect to the Internet, try power-cycling your router. To power-cycle your router you will need to unplug it, wait approximately 20 seconds, and plug it back in. If this does not fix the problem, reboot your computer. If you still cannot connect to the Internet, please call Technical Support for assistance.
DESPITE POWER OUTAGE, INTERNET KEEPS GOING (WITH A GENERATOR)
On February 28, 2007, the LaCygne, KS area experienced a power outage when a storm damaged a power substation. Despite the damage, Midwest Connections’ downtime was minimal thanks to a dedicated manager who drove to the LaCygne tower and kept a backup power supply running throughout the night. Many thanks go out to the Midwest Connections manager for keeping us online. During the storm, one customer in particular was glad to remain online amidst a critical poker game and she credits her win of $50 to the Midwest Connections manager, although she declined to share her spoils with him.
