LIGHTNING DOES STRIKE IN THE SAME PLACE TWICE!
During a storm on the evening of Thursday, March 29, 2007, lightning hit the Paola North tower, located on the edge of Hillsdale Lake.
The storm has been the single most damaging incident Midwest Connections has experienced, with primary and backhaul radio fatality and damage to the cluster management box, a device that controls the communications equipment on the tower site.
As the night’s storm ebbed into morning, Midwest Connections technicians were already on the go, having immediately sent for replacement radios and taking steps to secure emergency replacement equipment for the Paola North tower.
The Paola North tower had also suffered lightning damage in the fall of 2006. The tower is now up and running as normal.
Customers who are still experiencing problems are advised to call our tech support line for assistance.
We appreciate the patience displayed by our customers who have experienced downtime from the lightning damage.
